Using the numbers

Lamps wear by the hour, so a longer session costs more in lamps as well as power. Price a bed that costs more to run, or one with a newer lamp set, as its own level.

TanVision counts lamp hours for each room as sessions run, and shows Change soon and Change now against the hours you set. See the lamp replacement guide and bed levels and upgrades.

Common questions

How much does a tanning session cost the salon to run?
The two costs that grow with every session are lamps and electricity. A lamp set costs its price spread over its rated hours; electricity is the bed’s power draw times the session’s length times your price per kWh. Type your own figures in the calculator above.
Where do I find a lamp’s rated life?
From the lamp maker. No federal rule sets how many hours a tanning lamp may run. The lamp replacement guide covers when to change lamps and what may replace them.
What does break even mean here?
The number of sessions a month whose takings, less their lamp and power cost, pay for the bed’s share of rent, staff and other monthly costs. It leaves out tax, card fees and anything else you did not type in.
